PCTA Technical Engineer Panels for IPv6 Adoption in the Philippines

IPv6, the latest Internet Protocol, is revolutionizing how devices can connect and communicate across the digital landscape. Unlike IPv4, which has a limited number of unique address spaces, IPv6 offers an almost infinite number of IP addresses, ensuring that as the number of connected devices grows — from smartphones to IoT devices in smart homes and cities — they can all be assigned unique identifiers. This scalability is essential to the continued growth of the internet and the seamless connectivity of modern technologies, powering everything from remote work to the expanding digital economy.

On December 4, 2024, PCTA Technical Engineer, Michael Pablo Dela Paz, ECE, participated in an insightful panel discussion titled "IPv6 Adoption in the Philippines: Reflecting on the Past and Present, Navigating the Future," held at the Holiday Inn in Makati City. The event brought together key industry experts, including Atty. Roy Ibay, VP & Head of Regulatory at Smart Communications, Engr. Erwin Señora, Technical Industry Development Committee Member of PCTA, and Adelbert Eslava, Director of Tier Operations 2 at Globe Telecom. The panelists delved into the future of IPv6 adoption in the Philippines, analyzing its potential impact on the telecommunication industry. Together, they highlighted the critical role of IPv6 in fostering a more connected, efficient, and resilient digital environment for the Philippines.
